Decorative knot in the shape of a cross with extensions at each arm. Made from double wire. Size approx. 22mm x 22mm.
Reproduction of P16c from Birka grave 524. The original is made from double gold wire, size approx. 22mm x 23mm and 21mm x 21mm. Found together with the small and the threefold cross knot in the chest area of the grave.
There were further passaments and tablet woven trims in the rich chamber grave.
In the burial mound Skopintull on the island Adelsö (Sweden) three smaller cross knots of the same type were found.
Cross knots of the same type were found in a rich woman's grave from the 15th. century in Beloretschensk (Russia). The grave contained 35 passament cross and square knots which were found together with some textiles in a small chest at the feet of the deceased.
